At age 22, Spencer Ferguson became an entrepreneur by founding Wasatch Software, which specialized in software license sales and consulting. The company quickly grew to become the #1 reseller of Microsoft products in Utah. In 2010, Spencer led a change of direction in the organization’s focus, renaming it Wasatch I.T., and added a new division focused on outsourced technical support for small- and medium-sized businesses. While roughly 1,000 companies in the state offer the same service, Wasatch I.T. has already become one of the five largest. The organization has won numerous awards throughout its history, including “Inc. 5000,” “Utah 100,” “Microsoft Partner of the Year” and many others.
Mr. Ferguson was named to Utah Business magazine’s “Forty under 40” at the age of 29 and is an alumnus of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. He has also served the community as the chairman of ChamberWest Chamber of Commerce and on the advisory council of Tech Data’s TechSelect program.
Bahar Sharifan possesses a unique and diverse skill set that includes experience in business, politics, and law. Her educational journey began by earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah, followed by her MBA from Westminster College. Bahar then completed law school at Brigham Young University. She practiced law for 4 years and maintains her Utah Attorney License to this day.
Bahar began her work in politics on Jon M. Huntsman’s gubernatorial campaign, later becoming the Assistant to the Senior Economic Advisor following his election. Thereafter, Ms. Sharifan continued her political service as the Finance Director for U.S. Congressman Jason Chaffetz. As the child of entrepreneurs, Bahar has been exposed to business her entire life. This was enhanced when she served as the Director of Membership Services at Corporate Alliance. She continues to use this experience as the President of Wasatch I.T.
Rett brings extensive experience in the I.T. industry to Wasatch I.T. Prior to joining our team, he spent more than 5 years creating, executing, and managing channel partner programs and teams for HP, Microsoft, Oracle and VMware. Mr. Roberts received a Bachelors degree from the University of Utah in 2001, and a Doctorate from University of Western States in 2004.
Sidney is Wasatch I.T.’s Finance Manager, and leads our Sage Software division. She has been a Sage project manager and Certified Public Accountant licensed in California for approximately 30 years. Sidney possesses the expertise to design, implement and train on accounting software. She is a certified trainer for Sage 100 and Sage Fixed Assets. She also holds more than 40 related certifications. Ms. Wells was awarded a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from California State University at Fullerton.
Michael LawsonREAD BIO
For more than 30 years, Mike Lawson has served in leadership positions throughout the United States; most recently with a multi-state corporate commercial real estate firm, Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce (CWC). In the span of 13 years as President & CEO of CWC, Lawson grew the company from 50 employees to 300, increased the number of offices from four in Utah to ten across the western U.S., and increased the amount of property the company manages by over 500 percent.
Lawson’s passion for growth began in the economic development profession, spending 25 years in economic development organizations throughout Missouri, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Utah, and Indiana. As President and CEO of the Indy Partnership in Indianapolis, IN, he led the creation of a nine-county, $16 million organization, and as the President of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCU), he expanded the organization to a statewide public/private partnership.
With a strong, shared leadership approach, Lawson pushes colleagues and associates to face challenges head-on, to find new solutions and is known for inspiring a deep confidence in his, and his team’s clients. Lawson has served on numerous local, state and regional boards in the for-profit, charitable and non-profit sectors. He currently contributes as a board member of Wasatch I.T. and Sahara Construction.
Thomas MabeyREAD BIO
As CEO and founder of EMM Technology LLC, Tom Mabey is committed to working around obstacles. His passion for innovation, teamwork, and quality of service fuels his strategic direction for the Utah-based technology company.
Before being named CEO in December 2012, Tom spent the previous 38 years building successful companies. Rolling a degree from the University of Utah in Civil Engineering into his own firm – The Consortium (est. 1979), led to another regionally successful commercial construction company – Sahara LLC (est. 1985). Some of the company’s projects included the construction of the Delta Center (home of the Utah Jazz) and the Miller Motorsports Park. He remains on as Chairman.
In his personal pursuits, Tom has been an avid auto racer. He raced on the professional circuits in the US and Europe from 1999 to 2009, further developing his innate abilities to strategize and think under pressure.

Dwayne NielsonREAD BIO
Nielson’s business career took him from being a CPA specializing in Taxation to the Telecom Industry where at Sprint he started as an accounting manager then became a General Manager of Government Sales and Services, Controller, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, and the National Vice President of Small Business and Consumer Marketing and Operations.
After Sprint he founded the Western Region of NEXTLINK, competing directly against US West and Pacific Telecom. Within 5 years he formed a successful regional team and 8 state subsidiaries which grew to $200 million in total revenue. Four years after a successful IPO, Dwayne retired.
Retirement lasted 4 months when he became Chief Operating Officer for a company providing broadband services to Hotels throughout the US and Europe. Within a year he led the struggling company to break even cash flow. While in this role, he was recruited to become the President and CEO or Envirocare of Utah. Within two years at Envirocare, revenue increased $50 million with a Net Profit increase of $40 million. He also became a board member and stayed in this role until the sale of the company and its rebranding to Energy Solutions.
After Energy Solutions, Dwayne focused on charitable services serving as a board member of Southern Utah University for 11 years and Chair for 6 years. He has served as a board member of the Utah County Children’s Justice Center for 7 years, two years as the Chair.
Nielson again emerged from retirement to become a CEO Coach and Mentor (Chair) with Vistage Worldwide.
Dwayne and his wife Sandy live in Alpine Utah. They have six children and seven grandchildren. His hobbies include travel, gardening, and college sports.
